Newbie help?

by techid - 9/7/09 10:10 AM

I'm due for a new phone at verizon and thought I would step up and look into a Blackberry (in order to check emails). Newbie question #1 can I download music from my PC like I do for my Ipod. I just burn my CD's and load em to itunes and then my iPod. # 2 ( I am new) what is the deal with the B Berry Tour not having WiFi, how is that important to me. Last #3 what is the main diff between the Tour and the Curve. The storm looks kind of cool but too many online complaints. Well thanks for any help. Be nice...

BlackBerry for Newbies

Upgrading to a BlackBerry is certainly a wise choice. It is so addictive that you probably will not want to go back to your old phone any more. When installing BlackBerry Desktop Manager you will be asked whether you also want to install BlackBerry Media Sync. This application allows you to sync your BlackBerry with playlists from iTunes and Windows Media Player.

If you sign up with unlimited BlackBerry data plan or something similar, whether it has Wi-Fi or not doesn't matter that much. A couple of GBs will be enough for most everyday uses, unless you stream a lot of music or video.

The BlackBerry Tour 9630 is a high-end CDMA BlackBerry model, currently the best you can get with any CDMA operators (Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, etc.). There are a couple of models called Curve. Most recent ones are the Curve 8900, Curve 8520 and Curve 8530. Curve 8900 is a slimmed down version of the popular Bold 9000. And thus a GSM phone. Curve 8520 and 8530 are almost identical, except that 8520 is a GSM model and 8530 is a CDMA model. If you are with Verizon, the only Curve you can use is the 8530. Both 8520 and 8530 are low-end models with lower resolution screens and cameras. The 8520 has been released and does have Wi-Fi. It is not clear whether the 8530 will also have Wi-Fi yet.

Great reply. So I went to the verizon store and checked one out, I clicked on an internet story and the print was very tiny, so I figured how to zoom in a click which was great and legible but the words were off the screen so then I had to scoll back and forth to read each sentence. I was just snooping and the store personel were busy. Now is there a way to remedy this situation. Sorry if this sounds confusing and thanks for the help.

Does anyone know if, on the Tour, when you click zoom to make the print bigger (on a newslink for example), if you are able to keep the whole sentence on the page, so I won't have to scroll side to side on each sentence. I might have to switch to the Storm (because I can turn it sideways). I am not sure on the tech terms sorry. Thanks for any help.
