My Digg submissions are showing up, but not the domain when I do a search for the domain. The Google bot has visited, but the domain just doesn't show up on any searches (mydomain.com).

If you want to do it by your self then choose keyword to be targeted for which you can get traffic. Starts to bookmark your website, submit it to high PR directories, go for link-building, starts commenting do follow blogs, go for viral marketing and starts the forum posting.
I think these common steps will help to index your website.
