I downleaded OOP onto XP SP3 Home Edition, but it did not show up in Start Menu All Programs, Add/Remove Programs, Revo Uninstaller list, and CCleaner and Glary Urilities uninstall sections, unlike all other software downloads.
OOP gave limited areas onto which to download, so I selected desktop, where I don't really want it.
I have now very laboriously uninstalled manually.
Question at last: how can I download OOP into Start Menu All Programs,
preferably getting it to show in the above program listings?
Advance thanks to all responding folks.
From http://portableapps.com/about/what_is_a_portable_app
* A portable app works from any device (USB flash drive, portable hard drive, iPod, etc)
* A portable app works as you move computers and your drive letter changes
* A portable app's features continue working as you move computers
* A portable app doesn't leave files or folders behind on the PC
* A portable app doesn't leave registry entries behind except those automatically generated by Windows
* A portable app is optimized for use on removable drives
* A portable app doesn't require additional software on the PC
* A portable app doesn't interfere with software installed on the PC
So a portable app doesn't put itself in the Start>All programs, nor in the uninstall sections of the registry. By definition of an open app.
You're asking for something that won't happen. Why not install the normal version of OpenOffice from http://www.openoffice.org/ ? That behaves exactly as you seem to want.

That's telling me, Kees! And so quickly. Thanks.
I'll try to put OOP onto flashdrive. My eight-year old PC is MB-limited, I don;t use Office applications much, so that will do me.
Thanks again.
