What's the best way to burn photos to DVD so that they can be played as a slideshow on a DVD player?
The best way is not to burn but have the DVD pressed. But you may want a DIY solution. Try the free demo of PROSHOW GOLD from http://photodex.com
It's quite good and plays on DVD players that support recordable DVD media.

I just had a person at a local photo business show me this program recently, he said he liked it better than Sony Vegas for several reasons. I've just started looking at these types of programs so I'd be tempted to get it, but I'd like to know if there are some free programs that may come close to matching it. Thanks
The titles mentioned in this discussion are about as good as it gets. But let's hope someone comes up with better!
I'll try one that was mentioned below and if it doesn't do what I want then I may have to go with Proshow. I have one other question on this subject. Do you know of a site where I can get the instrumental version of some songs to go with the pictures or video?

I've tried ProShow and it's good. But I have bought Wondershare Movie Story from http://www.wonderdvd.com/wondershare-movie-story/index.html?page=125.
Wondershare Movie Story burns fair quality DVD slideshow and the price is affordable. Thank all you guys for the info!
The item Bob mentioned is fine, also look at a download called PHOTO STORY, that is another one you could use.
Here's a darn good freebie: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/photostage.html
You may try eezSlide Photo DVD Maker. It can burn photo slideshow to DVD and playback on DVD or on TV.
