Repairing Permissions
by iamawtucson - 7/28/09 4:56 PMSometime ago I installed an update to I Tunes and after doing so I got the following after repairing permissions. Since then there have been other updated to I tunes as well as system software updates. I never have a problem and when updating the system software I will use the combo updates. I am still getting the following after the repair of permissions, yet my laptop works great! I use a mac pro, system 10.5.7, 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM. Everything works great, but would like to get rid of this problem (not sure what it means) or should I just wait for the new OS to come out?

Unless your system is giving you problems, there is nothing really to worry about.
Not sure why you would be getting the same error after a repair though.
Repairing permissions may give one a sense of actually doing something but that procedure is not as effective as it once was.
OS X tends to keep a pretty good track of what your permissions should be and it is usually only third party installers that "may" mess with them
If it's running well, relax.

These are unix file permissions that are different from what is defined in the install pkgs vs actually on the hard drive. I do wish they fix these "errors" - I still run repair permissions to make sure the files have the permissions that are close to being correct. With so many false "errors" - it is hard to figure out what may be wrong with the software or OS.
