I recently reinstalled Windows 98SE on the kid's old computer and am now unable to play their Games CD's on both the CD ROM and combi drive properly.
The combi also does not play DVD,s correctly any more.
The DVD's sound as they are coming through on Morse code and the game CD's play very hesitantly.
I have reinstalled the driver for the Display ( I hope the correct one )and flashed the Combi Drive but to no avail.
Not being an expert, I could now do with some help to solve this problem which I seem to have generated myself.
Details of the equipment are : motherboard Jetway531 CF, SIS 530 Display, CD-Rom Drives AOPEN COM 5232/AAh PRO and Sony CD-RW CRX 100E.
Direct X 7.0 is installed.
Thanks for trying.
Windows 98SE didn't come with Video DVD play capability so my question is: What DVD player software have you installed?
Bob
So far, I have installed Power DVD 5. Is there more I have missed out on?
Thanks
Erich
However you may want to review your install notes about drivers after Windows that are needed. Given the age and this old OS it's not easy for some to find those drivers or their notes on how to install.
Bob
ok. Which drivers do I have to concentrate on? Sorry to be awkward.
Erich
When I install Windows 98se I have to install the drivers for motherboard, sound, video card, and whatever else there is. Microsoft does not supply these and the Update Driver does not work here.
Again:
1. Motherboard chipset driver package.
2. Sound card.
3. Video card.
4. What else?
Thanks , I will do that. Wish me luck! I'll come back to you to let you know how I got on.
Erich
