I recently upgraded to 10.5.8 OS and am running Safari 4.02.
Prior to the upgrade, I would print copies of my weekly pay check from ADP website in PDF format. Now, when I choose the print function from their web page, I get an error message stating my browser is not compatible with their print function. No further option to print is provided.
I can get the page to print by closing that error message, going to the file drop, down menu and choosing print current frame option, but it is not PDF, and it is not very clear. Further, I have to try the website print option 1st, fail, and then go to Safari's file menu to be given the option to "print current frame". It is not offered if I go there first.
I really would rather print the pay stubs in PDF. Any suggestions?
until that company gets their act together.
Open Safari preferences. Choose the Advanced Tab. Put a check mark in Show Develop in the Menu bar.
close preferences.
When you click on Develop, in the menu bar, you will see there is a bunch of options under User Agent.
Just before you reach the print stage, set the User Agent to something other than Safari 4.02. Try 3 or even try Firefox or even (Hush my mouth) Internet Explorer 6
When the website queries the browser, to see if it supported, Safari will send back a string that indicates that it is whatever you chose in the Develop menu. The website then compares the answer with its list of supported browsers, sees the correct answer and gets on with printing.
Safari reverts to the correct settings at next launch.
Try it and let us know how it works for you.
