Upgraded to Windows 7 RTM. Major Problems.

by uber1337 - 7/27/09 12:58 PM

To Preface this, I have a Toshiba Satellite A215 S7422 (which has a specs listing on CNet), I just upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate from Vista Home Premium.

First: It seems slower, despite the fact that it turned Aero off by default because my graphics rating, which on Vista was a 3.2, is a 1.0 now. Anyone know how to fix this? Am I just missing a driver or something? Because Aero Peek won't activate either

Second: My external monitor isn't detected. When I turn on the PC with the monitor connected and the lid closed, only the monitor works ( The built in screen is black), but when I open the lid and restart, only the built-in screen comes to life.

I have tried hitting Win+P for the monitor, it didn't work. I have tried enabling themes for Aero, that didn't work either.

Well that's interesting

Well that's interesting, because last I knew Windows 7 RTM was just that: Release to Manufacturers. As in, there was no public distribution as yet.

So I see two possibilities to explain this.

1: You work for some big box system manufacturer and got your hands on a copy of Win7 and loaded it onto your system when you almost certainly weren't authorized to do so

2: You pirated a copy from a torrent site.

In either case, you kind of brought this on yourself, and I'm not exactly sure what the thought process is that makes you think you'd be able to get help here for a product that hasn't even officially launched, so very few people would have much in the way of experience with which to help you.

Since by far and away the most probable scenarios for how you came into possession of this copy of Windows 7 involves activities of questionable legality at best, and the forum rules here prohibit aiding and abetting piracy... You're on your own. That's the price of "free" when you pirate something. You get to solve every little problem on your own. I'll be requesting the moderators lock this thread. Should you somehow have come into possession of Win7 RTM by purely innocent and legal means, feel free to send them a note explaining the process, and they will then unlock it.

As RTM is not out yet. Let's just say we should see posts like this yet.
