Offline Glitch Still "Active"

by flingwing - 7/10/09 6:52 PM In reply to: Have they fixed the "work offline" glitch? by flingwing

According to a thread in the Mozillazine Forum, <http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1336235>, the offline problem is part of FF 3.5.

I can't figure out why FF ignores this or it's too difficult to fix.

Questions to Rotemi

Has your new FF 9.5 gone offline automatically? That is, without selecting offline has the program suddenly shifted to "Work Offline" (under the "File" heading)?

Also, are you using Windows for an operating system? Someone in this forum said the problem is connected to Window's Instant Messaging.

Thanks.

Firefox keeps crashing

by sustain333 - 7/17/09 2:58 AM In reply to: Questions to Rotemi by flingwing

My PC running Windows xp Home edition Ver 2002 Service Pack 3 with Intel Celeron CPU 420@1.60GHz. Some time ago Firefox started to crash.

I uninstalled it and re-installed it several times, but the same thing keeps happening. Today I decided to download and install FF 3.5 and the same thing happens.

I've checked for viruses and trojans with Spybot, Malaware and Adware regularly and found no problems. Also I cannot see any other conflicts.

My laptop which was installed with FF at the same time as my PC is running fine.

Many thanks
John

Hope someone can help me with this.

Did you try clean uninstall

by bus - 7/17/09 4:48 AM In reply to: Firefox keeps crashing by sustain333

There are parts of FF that keep your preferences and bookmarks (profile). If they are corrupted a new install will keep the problem in place. Follow the advice at this site

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox

If you can, save your bookmarks first. I believe someone already wrote up how to do this earlier in this tread. If you can't get them backed up, you might be able to import them from your other computer after you get your FF working again.

If you already done the above suggestion, I apologize for wasting your time. It worked for me in the past but your problem maybe deeper.
