Am I Missing a Driver ?

by Dutchman07 - 7/16/09 12:06 PM

Hello,
I have a 1 month old Acer Aspire PC with a Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2 OS. I also have Advance System Care Pro V3.3.4 and CCleaner V2.21.940 installed along with Webroot's SpySweeper with Antivirus V6.1.0.128. The last few times I started my PC I got the message:

“Error loading: C:Progra~2\Mywebs~1\bar\1.bin\M3plugin.DLL This specified module could not be found!"

What can I do to keep this from popping up every time I start my PC? Thank you in advance for any help you could supply me with.

No

No, like I told you the last time you asked this, you have some program that wasn't removed properly.

A quick Google search and checking two different sites, totaling maybe 15-30 seconds of time and effort, it looks to be related to the MyWebSearch bit of malware. Basically this is just a result of an incomplete removal, not clearing the registry entry that directs the OS to load this program at bootup.

So you should spend some time reviewing your browsing habits and program choices, and make some changes, since you've already shown you've contracted malware. Having malware removers is all well and good, but it's a REACTIVE approach to the problem, not a PROACTIVE one that keeps the malware off your system in the first place.

You should also learn to use search engines. Within a few seconds of inputting that error message into Google, I ascertained that it was malware remnants. You could have saved yourself the hassle of posting this question 3 separate times had you done this from the start.

Fixing the M3plugin.dll problem

by Dutchman07 - 7/16/09 3:29 PM In reply to: No by Jimmy Greystone

Greystone:
Then why don't you tell me EXACTLY what you put in Google because when I put the error message in Google (among other searches) I got a whole bunch of answers on how to fix the M3plugin.dll problem on a 32-bit OS! No such animal for Vista 64-bit.

Doesn't matter

Doesn't matter for something like this if you have a 32 or 64-bit OS. Method is the same regardless.

Then why do I keep getting the message "Windows 64-bit not supported?"

The search is simple.

Example -> http://www.google.com/search?q=M3plugin

I read just the first few hits and agree that we can delete it's entry.

So your saying that there is no such program to fix this?

No, but there are TOOLS.

by R. Proffitt Moderator - 7/16/09 5:27 PM In reply to: The search is simple. by Dutchman07

I use the usuals like HIJACKTHIS (warning, power tool) or others like Grif notes at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6122_102-0.html?threadID=328220#2968150

You can imagine that if there was a program to fix each little issue we would as many fix program as say "how many dollars in the US National Debt?"

This is why we use a few nice tools to remove the entry.

Thanks for the website. I'll have to go through it tomorrow since it's getting pretty late here.
