IE 8

by Rosella688 - 7/14/09 9:04 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I upgraded from IE6 to IE8. Never could get 7 to finish the install, had to go straight to 8. It's okay, but really, really slow, done everything possible to speed it up. Don't think it works very well with At&t provider, also in the beginning made the mistake of getting Yahoo messenger add-on which brought my pc to a halt! Had to Uninstalled that completely. Thinking of trying one of the others like Firefox or Maxthon.

Mainly Firefox

I used to use the AT&T web browser when it still had support from Yahoo and a bunch of cool applications, but now it's lame and insecure.
Now I use Firefox 3.5 to casually browse and Chrome to do a quick search or email check. Sometimes I use Opera for fun, but that's on rare occasions.

Favorite to least:

Running trend (favorite to least, more or less): speed (who like to watch molasses drip, huh?), stability, security and privacy, GUI, features, customization

Safari & Chrome kind of run hand in hand but Safari still have the speed edge (but security...let's just hope Apple is newfound serious about security going with v4). What are the notables about each for me: Safari=speed+GUI(but favored/missed that tabs at very top a la Google Chrome in BETA v4); Chrome=speed+GUI+stability+security and privacy+MULTI-processes+tabs tearing and redocking

IE 8 close behind above (especially like "intelligent tabbing and coloring/coding scheme"+speed+MULTI-processes+customize search engines)

Firefox 3.5 (Fx used to be my favorite but since bout v3.0.4 it started going like molasses on me and especially unstable, ie, crashed a lot so I have to restart it (annoying)!! But since this 3.5 session started today (only 16 hrs so far) it doesn't seem like molasses: don't remember/know if this phenomenon shows itself after several days of leaving all my Fx windows and tabs opened???!!!...........Can anyone enlighten/confirm this phenom for me???!!!)

Web Browser

by suebee29 - 7/18/09 8:57 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I use IE8 on my desktop and Chrome on my laptop. I, too, have RoboForm installed (the jury is still out on that one), but IE8 has given me no problems. I had FireFox at one time and read some bad things about having both FF and IE installed together and got kind of skittish. Chrome is going to take some getting used to, but it seems to be a bit faster.

IE 8

by Larry EH - 7/18/09 12:21 PM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Since upgrading to IE8, I am not pleased with it at all.
Constant error messages, that it was closed due to errors, compatibility issues, auto execute data errors, it sucks.
Of all the issues I have experienced since upgrading, IE7 never had this many issues.

I have only had IE8 a couple of weeks, and spend daily trips to Microsoft website looking for corrections to the problems. What I do find on Microsoft's website is hundreds of complaints about IE8, running the gauntlet of complaint topics.

I strongly recommend not upgrading to IE8, until the bugs are out of this one.

Browser

by zepper - 7/19/09 1:01 PM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I checked Firefox on the poll, but I actually use SeaMonkey which uses a lot of Firefox code (both are Mozilla projects). Plus I also use some version of IE for updating Windwoes. I used to use the eMail client part of SeaMonkey which I had set up to keep copies of my emails locally on the hard drive. However, I've pretty much gone to using the webmail method of accessing my accounts. Since I started using Linux a while back and never bothered installing SeaMonke, I may just stay with Firefox in Win as well.

Brower Choice

by jcacnet - 7/21/09 1:15 PM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I've used several internet browers over the years, but have been using Internet Explorer for most of the time, and have been satisfied. I just make the jump from IE7 to IE8, but quickly reverted to IE7. I didn't like the fact that I could not place tool bars where I wanted them in IE8. The menu bars took up too much vertical real estate on the screen. In IE7 I can reduce the number of stacked bars by 1 or 2 rows. Don't know why Microsoft didn't permit more user customization of the tool bars in IE8.

I use old Mozilla 1.7.13 on my laptop with windows XP and I love it because it is easy to use and I am used to it. I use Firefox 3.1 on my PC and it is OK but difficult if you are not a professional.
I am trying to download Firefox 3.1 for my laptop but Mozilla won't let me? Help?

I use:
IE8 (comparability with some programs I run) mostly but I am starting to use
Chrome3 and some (Very thin. Security wise I haven't had any problems)
Firefox3 (I need to give it more time)

There are some conflicts between these 3 browsers.

IE7

by DerfX - 10/31/09 5:39 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

IE7, when coupled with eDexter works so nice. No banners or popups and I don't even have to use the popup blocker. You wouldn't believe how fast pages load when they don't have to search for all the ad sites that they may be connected to.

Safari .... with xp !!!

by jstanotherbtch - 11/10/09 9:49 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I have Windows XP ( hate vista, so I downgraded), My default browser is Safari 4 . I have Firefox and IE8, but only use them when necessary, when I visit a webpage that only allows the use of IE or Firefox. I love the speed of safari, the top websites page, mostly everything about safari. I only wish more websites would allow the use of alternate browsers, I hate to visit a site only to be told I have to use IE or Firefox, Most of the time when that happens, I just close out and leave the site... most things aren't that important.
