I have been trying for almost 8 weeks to get this thing working right. Just got a new laptop w/windows Vista 64 bit. I needed an external modem for phone answering and finally found one that will work with 64. I downloaded a free trial of software which also was difficult to find for Vista 64. The modem is HIRO and the software is Venta Fax. It detects my modem but keeps telling me that it is not voice capable when in fact it is and the manufacturer of it has also tried to get it to work with Venta. I don't know what I am supposed to do with this software to get it to work. I did find a place to tell it to answer after 3 rings but it just doesn't answer at all. I need to get it to screen my calls too after it is answered. Do you know if I need to pay for it before it does what I need it to do? I was hoping that I could find out with the free trial before I bought it but this is not happening. I have tried to read the instructions which are very confusing to this old gal and my eyes are not good enough to read too much of it. If anyone knows of any other software that will do what I need that may be a little easier to set up please let me know. I just can't keep buying software that MAY work only to find out it does not as I am on fixed income and can't afford this.
Does the discussion here help?

Unfortunately that discussion is locked now, (it is now over two years old), but hopefully there is something there that is appropriate.
Good luck.

I checked it out and it referred to a fax only program which is not even for vista64 bit.
