My primary browser is Firefox 2. I use IE (7 just gone to 8) for occasional access to some Microsoft sites. I would have upgraded to Firefox 3 (I have 3.5 on test) but I don't like the drop down menus in the address bar and download pane - FF 2 was much cleaner and I haven't found a skin to restore them yet.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 "in production" and have 7 RC on test.
I use (an apparently little know product from Mozilla called) SeaMonkey, which is very similar to the very old Netscape browser. It runs clean, it runs fast, it runs very smooth.
Which seems surprising since it has more bells and whistles than does Firefox. For those of you that remember the old Netscape, SeaMonkey includes navigator, composer, email/newsgroups, address book, and an IRC client. I rarely find pages that SeaMonkey doesn't render well.
My 2nd choice is Firefox. And I use IE only when pages won't/don't load correctly. I stay away from that beastie as much as possible. Regardless of the "new and improved" whatever, it's just too insecure, IMHO.
I use a iMac. Safari& Firefox are both used about equally.... Firefox with the User Agent Swtcher does a fine job of thwarting sites that attempt to FORCE IE 6 on their site users.
Then on Windows2000 I use IE 6... on Windows 7 RC, i use IE 8. Latter works very well and seems fast enuff.
The Windows versions run under VMWare V 2.05. The Mac OS is Ver 10.5.7.

I use several, but have my default set to FLOCK. It's faster, and has all the bells and whistles I need. I also use FLASH PEAK SLIM BROWSER for IDM Downloads. Find OPERA useful at times too.
I tried to upgrade from IE7 to IE8. IE8 would not open when I clicked on the desktop icon. I discussed this with Microsoft Technical Support. They were unable to resolve my issue and advised me to go back to IE7.
Still use Internet Explorer 6.x
I can understand the need to make improvements for security reasons, but why change the overall layout and function buttons as we have come to be comfortable with?
I can't stand that the menu bar is in the "wrong" place. Yes, I know there are registry fixes for this, but it shouldn't be necessary.
I hate that the History button has essentially been hidden. Now I have to make multiple clicks to get to something that normally was a very convenient addition in my menu bar.
There are numerous nuisances that I could continue to list, but I stopped using it long ago, and can't specifically remember each one.
IE6 works well, and I am comfortable with it. Keep your virus scan up to date, and run Spybot and Windows Defender, and you will likely have no issues.
I like Safari, though there are 2 minor bothersome issues:
Number 1) When I open a new window from within the browser, I would prefer that it opened at the same URL I am currently on, like IE does.
Number 2) I find it irritating that I am sometimes forced to hit the 'Enter' button when trying to copy a URL into the address bar, and go to it - I hate that with iTunes also.
Well, that's my 2 cents
I mainly use K-meleon (http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/) but I use almost all, except Safari and chrome, these are: Opera, Seamonkey, Firefox and Internet Explorer (6, as Windows 2000 doesn't have support for 7 or 8).
I use Internet Explorer only when downloading a Miscrosoft file which requires me to use that browser. Up until recently my main browser was Firefox 3.0. I have had numerous crashes with Firefox on both my desktop and laptop though. I tried Chrome and found it lacking. I then tried Opera 9.6 and so far I am happy with its performance. It loads substantially quicker than Firefox. Page loads are sometimes slower but tolerable. I have found a couple of websites where Opera will not work for downloads and I have to open Firefox for downloads. Overall I like Opera, I like it's tool bars, speed dial page and it's over 500 different skins. I am using Dragon Blue which is awsome.
I primarily use Firefox and was going to hang onto IE 7 until they worked out the bugs as I heard that many people were having serious issues with the new IE 8. But it later came in a Microsoft update and so I decided to go ahead and get the new one.really,I haven't had much problem but sometimes it freezes (something to do with script) and it won't let me close it to reopen it. Other than that, there hasn't been much else to complain about.
MSN Explorer I've always found more user-friendly than any version of IE they come up with. MSN Explorer is just IE with a mask over it, but the mask's features, though not perfect, are certainly less cluttered, intuitively better ordered, and more aesthetically pleasing than bare IE.
IE8 and FF3.5
I use Firefox 3.5 and Safari 4.0.2 browsers on my MacBook. I use Firefox for browsing mainly but I find Safari a more stable downloader , although you have to remember to go into the 'General' window if you want to download to a specific folder. I like the 'Top Sites' feature on Safari. I don't have Microsoft products on my MacBook.
I have IE8 on my PC but I still use Firefox 3.5 on it. I also use the Firefox Portable version on other PCs.
A posting on July 10 pointed out that the responses totalled 105%. It's three days later, and they still total 105%. Is CNET paying no attention? Are they so technically challenged they can't count?
Conclusions from polls like this have no value unless the total number of respondants is given-is the sample large enough to have significance?
I like Netscape Navigator 9. It Ruuuleezz ![]()
When Navigator 7 came out, it had Tabs and it took 2 years for
Microsoft to install tabs in IE. When they did, the press and newspapers Woooooooow amasing. But Heeey, Netscape has it already from 2 years ago.
Netscape Navigator was always in front of IE and Firefox, and Safari and Opera, sad that they donīt live today.
On my Vista system, I use Chrome for general heavy usage, and IE8 when I just need to quickly check my email or whatever. On most other systems, I prefer Safari 4 for Windows on a PC with less than 1GB of RAM, and Chrome otherwise.
On my Mac, I use Safari 4 almost exclusively, although I also use Firefox. I've had 3.0.1 for a while, but recently upgraded it to 3.5. On rare occasions I've used Netscape Navigator 9 for mac, mainly due to its ability to "tile" tabs within one window. I've used Camino for a month or so, but quickly removed it becuase I saw no redeeming qualities. I plan on using Chrome for mac when it is finalized.
On computers that aren't mine, I usually run Firefox on the PortableApps platform from my flash drive(s).
