Which Web Browser do I use?

by jororich - 7/11/09 5:14 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I use IE8 as my default browser because the security features IE8 has
enabled me to unsubscribe from Zone Alarm Force Field. To name one.

I also run Opera Unite.Which i myself think is very underated. It is an easy way to Network.JRR.

Which Browser do you use?

by AspieMum - 7/11/09 8:36 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I actually use more than one browser. I have to use IE8 (IE7 won't work and even when IE8 was still beta I had to upgrade to it)for contacting my oldest son's teacher's through the school website. I mostly use the latest version of Firefox as I like that one best most of the time but sometimes it is prone to crashing on certain webpages. I like the add ons for Firefox. I also have Opera 9 mainly as a back up but I do like the speed dial- however McAfee SiteAdviser doesn't work with it and neither does Roboform.

Firefox 3.5 and IE6/IE7 when necessary

by aaasolanki - 7/11/09 8:49 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

The polls will probably show Firefox 2.x/3.x having a share of more than 66% because if one is on CNET it is assumed that the person does bother about technology and that invariably means that the person won't be still using IE6!

Chrome

by Roy Pinchin - 7/11/09 8:50 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

It's like freakin' lightning! Also keep Firefox and IE 8 around for incompatible sites and for authoring verification, as well as for some plug-in availability/capabilities.

Which web browser?

by jcord51 - 7/11/09 9:02 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I find that the various browsers offer different advantages and use either Google, IE8 or Firefox 3 accordingly. Having all 3 most likely slows the system a little but not noticeably so. Do other do this, and, if so, which are their favorites?

Firefox vs. Chrome

by lvwes - 7/11/09 9:15 AM In reply to: Which web browser? by jcord51

For the past couple of years I have used firefox for the most part. Lately however it has been crashing more often than IE EVER did. For some reason IE and firefox freeze up regularly when trying to watch MLB.TV. Chrome seems to work best for that, but I am an absolute junkie for the Yahoo toolbar, and it is only available an IE and firefox.
I think I could get used to chrome and use it almost exclusively if they had that toolbar. All of my financial stuff has been on Yahoo for years, not willing to change that.

It Varies

by ESUNintel - 7/11/09 9:56 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

If I'm doing developer work, I prefer FireFox due to all the add-ins and plug-ins available for it. If I'm doing normal browsing, and at home, I prefer Safari, it's got the coolest interface and it's fast. I've used Chrome, and it is pretty amazing, I just prefer to use FIreFox and Safari and see no need to have a bunch of browsers installed. On my Mac's I don't have to worry about IE, on the PC's, IE is just a program that's there, but to me it is non-existent.

Firefox 3.0 sometimes IE7

by ycandrea - 7/11/09 10:10 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Let's face it. Microsoft saw Mozilla Firefox stealing their market and they went to work and copied Firefox. You know, the tabs and user friendly options, etc. IE7 still has security problems, but some sites only allow IE so I have to use it once in a while. Now, like my husband, some love IE7 and have switched back to IE completely.

Which Web browser do you use?

by bill4482 - 7/11/09 10:13 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I use the FLOCK browser which is built on top of Firefox as my primary browser and Firefox as my secondary browser. My back up browsers in order of preference are Chrome and IE8.

Mostly use Firefox 3.X (3.5 now) with some IE8

by feemery - 7/11/09 10:48 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

My "default" browser is Firefox 3.5, but there are some things that I use IE8 for. A key use of IE 8 is for the monthly Microsoft update and generally any MS download. Part of this is because I don't like the notices that one gets with the Firefox downloads.

Flock for now

by TinyDancer500 - 7/11/09 11:01 AM In reply to: Poll: Which Web browser do you use? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Having just started with Twitter and finding major mem probs with Tweetdeck and Seesmic, I decided to give Flock a try. The social aspect didn't work for me, still mem problems on my end, but I haven't switched back to Firefox yet, my old browser, as I'm enjoying the much improved speed. I gave up on IE ages ago, it crashed on me at least once a day, but I keep upgrading it as some casual game sites I enjoy still require it. Firefox was a definite improvement over IE for me, and Flock is working dandy right now (about 2 months).
