Most Blackberry Storm owners, including myself, are less than satisfied with the phone, even after the software upgrade. Verizon or RIM should offer some sort of swap program or at least give us a discount on the Tour. What do you all think?
I have been a blackberry user and Verizon customer for many years and switched from my 8830 to the storm last year. The Storm has been a constant source of frustration with screen freezes, massive battery drain and a touch screen that too often takes a very long time to react. I have been thinking of changing to the iphone but am reluctant to leave Verizon where I have very reliable service all over the country. Any advice?
I have had a number of issues with TWO storms. What I don't understand is the inconsistency. With two phones, the battery drain was terrible. So Verizon told us to remove Facebook. HELLLOOOO! This was one of the reasons I BOUGHT the phone. Two new phones... One is fine for battery, the other is still terrible. But the one with the working battery doesn't have a working camera. I have wiped repeatedly and restored to stock... STILL no camera.
The main issue I would considering going to the Tour for is the crappy touch feel and slow screen on the Storm. I used an IPhone and figured I could deal with texting on the Storm. It is almost useless. Well at least my texting habit has been cut in half and I could lower my unlimited policy plan with Verizon.
Verizon Service is NOT all THAT. I am now upset that I signed for another two years for my discounted Storm. I have never liked Apple products - but now it is looking like Apple and ATT in my future. I am so fed up I am considering the early out penalty to get a useful phone.
I agree. The Storm has done nothing but disappoint me from day one. The rumor is that the Storm 2 9550 is coming out sometime in November and will be packed with better software and memory. I have been with Verizon for almost 8 years. I had our company switch to Verizon and now we have 30 active lines, but with phone exchange, upgrade, or warranty switch out.........it is not going to happen. I think the phone is the problem, not the service provider. Blackberry should step up to the plate and offer SOMETHING!
I am in total agreement. I have 3 Storms and 2 have had to be replaced at least twice. To their credit Verizon is quick to offer to send out a replacement. In talking to a few of the Verizon employees they say that their primary concern is to have a network that works and which phone people use is way secondary. So the push may have to be with Blackberry/RIM.
I found it really sad when tech support tells me that I should remove the battery regularly to reset the phone. Come on, if resetting regularly is really necessary there should at least be a button for it.
I have been very frustrated with the performance of my Blackberry Storm, Verizon has replaced it twice and I still had problems with it locking up. About 2 wks ago I called into tech support and got someone who felt the Storm was a great phone and asked me to change some of my settings....in options, to screen/keyboard. set tap interval to 500, hover period to 1000 and swipe sensitivity to 5. I have not had a problem with my storm since then. He also told me to be sure to close an application when I was done with it. (this is probably the main fix).
Bottom line, my Storm has performed well for 2 solid weeks and I am very amazed and pleased with my Storm.
