Is a graphics card only used in windows or all aspects like the bootup screen? If not then I probably have a bad graphics card. The screen on my monitor looks really horrible, even when I'm not in windows. There are dots and discoloration all over and it turns off at random, and when I'm at the boot up(Dell screen) or in setup(BIOS), it looks just as bad. When I hook my laptop up to it, then it's fine. I have an old Dell system with an old Radeon card.
The story and symptom is right. Any chance of a picture (photobucket or other) or just swapping the video card out? Can you try another monitor to test?
I switched out the card and it works okay now. The TV out port went on the card while ago, so it was a matter of time i guess. I'll probably build my own soon, but at least I know it's not the monitor. Thanks for the help.
