Remote Desktop Connection only works on fresh boot

by twginc - 7/7/09 8:51 AM

I can reboot my Windows XP Pro SP2 workstation and use RDC fine but once I login locally, I lose access. The error reports there are too many connections and some other misc issues. This just started a few days ago, since it operated normally and I could leave my workstation logged on and access it or log out and get to it ...in either state.

I think the clue is in the message.

"too many connections"

XP Pro and Home have a limited number of connections so next time reduce network share connections (printer and file shares) and certainly don't expect this to work if a "torrent" software is working. The number is quite low so many are surprised when they discover how small the number is.
