Hi,I live in Canada and for us, the Asus Eee pc 1005ha has not come out yet. However, the 1000HA is available at Tiger Direct for 389.99 (100 dollars off) My question is, should i wait for the 1005HA to come out, or should i go ahead and buy the 1000HA.
1005HA = 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, and a 6 cell, 63Whr battery.
1000HA = 1.6 GHz Intel ATOM N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery
So the difference is the 667MHz front side bus, which is up from the 533MHz in the N270.
I see the 1000HE has the N280. Can you get that?
Bob
dan ackerman said that the n280 fails to impress so i'm not really looking for the processor upgrade and the 1000HE costs 450 dollars in canada so unfortunantly i can't get it
Was to see where it differed. Did I miss something?
i know the technical differences i was just wondering if anyone experienced the netbooks first hand and could tell their experiences to help me better pick
The Acer Aspire One and my only comments are:
1. It's nice. Wish I could have waited for the 10 inch.
2. I use a Logitech V450 Nano mouse.
3. I would never tell anyone this replaces a laptop.
Bob
Your input is appreciated however, i am not looking to replace a laptop. I am buying a netbook simply for the purpose of being able to take notes and type up assignments in school as well as browse the web and perform basic multimedia tasks such as listening to music or watching youtube. For more heavy stuff, i have my desktop at home
I'll add more items.
4. The keyboard is quieter than my other laptops.
5. Good choice on the 6 cell battery. Don't get the 3 cell models.
6. It does play mp3, web, youtube fine.
this is the acer or the asus?
I own the Acer. You can find these in the stores to look at and compare. I think Fry's has both. But for performance these devices are much like McDonald's fries. They taste about the same regardless of the size you order.
Bob
the benchmarks for the asus beat out the competition as i have read online, however the asus eee pc 1005HA doesn't have released benchmarks yet
It's very nice and I have compared with other netbook owners. We find that everything comes down to the wire in seconds if the basics are the same. Your model has the usual 1GB RAM, 160GB hard disk and same CPU (unless we talk about the unreleased model) and for that will the less than 1 second boot up time difference matter?
Here's hoping any detail I shared helped.
Bob
last month for my wife. It has N280 Processor and in it with the 6 cell battery that it claimed to run for 9+ hours. Well, it hit close to 7 hours only but that's more than enough compare to other notebooks.
In my opinion, don't bother about the 270 or 280, they both are slow. But then, it meant to consume less power. I even tried upgrading it to 2 gig of RAM but it didn't help at all. 1Gig is enough for this notebook. I personally do not like it because of the small keyboard. I keep on messing up while typing so the only time I borrow from my wife is when I'm in bed playing online poker game lol.
Have you tried any of the Intel Atom notebook or ebook? Go to a computer store and turn on one of them (see how slow it starts). Try to open 2 programs one right after another. You'll know what I mean and you won't even bother about the benchmark test.
I was torn between the Acer and Asus but I ended up taking the Eeebook because of the battery. But someone told me that HP minibook has better display. I haven't compare it side by side but the Asus display isn't so great IMO.
i have decided to buy the 1005HA as it just came to my city at Canada Computers. I gotta say, that i love this netbook in every aspect possible, it's fast, looks awesome, has great battery life and it can run counter strike. Both the keyboard and the mousepad are extremely easy to use and responsive and a pleasure to use. As far as i'm concerned, i made the right choice, thanks for all your help guys!
Picked up the Gateway 3103 from Best Buy yesterday. So far, very pleased. Larger screen (11.6"), 2G RAM, 250 G HD, AMD Athlon 64 processor. Also comes with Vista Basic. Screen is awesome, keyboard is full size, and trackpad works well. I think it's worth checking out if you want a little more bang for your dollar.
