by dand63987 - 7/5/09 8:28 AMHi guys. I am trying to get high speed internet with a directional antenna through a cell tower. The tower is approx 10 miles away and I was considering a yagi antenna. The tower's cell phone signal is broadcast at either 928.593 MHz or 952.593 MHz which limits my antenna selection. I was wondering what is the best antenna to buy and if this is the right way to go. I only found four on Ebay in that MHz range. I have a 50' tower to install it on. Right now I have satellite internet but it's not "real-time" so I can't use internet telephone and it's quite expensive for only 1.5 meg service. Thanks very much for your help. I want to point to a cell tower for real time internet. Also, I'm paying $89.95 for 1.5 meg speed. With an air card through ATT I'll get twice the speed for half the price. I'm pretty sure a directional antenna pointed at the cell tower will do the trick. I see these antennas advertised,802.11, 800, 1900, 2.4GHz, and I'm confused. The cell tower I'm trying to point at states their frequency is transmitted at either 928.953 or 952.953. Thanks for any help you guys can give me. Also, if anyone else has a possible remedy, I'd appreciate it.

That's what what cell towers use to communicate with each other. You'll have to check the specs to see if they are suitable to your application.

The suggestion of SATELLITE dish, is probably the most logical in a boonie weed situation. You will likely wind up with some fees from a server just like your air card.
