Everyone knows you can use SkyNET as the admin password. ![]()
There is a registry change I did a long time ago to avoid (bypassing) the logon screen altogether, but I misplaced the info on the registry hack. Due to a Microsoft update, it the system went back to the original logon screen.
What small registry change (to a zero(0)) must be done to avoid logging on altogether?
it is simple do brake a password.their could be many ways to it.i hav read what jill W's problem is and i think he is afraid of lossin his files.first think first he can contact a IT proffesional and brake through BIOS and he can also use the password braker software to access his account
You have lost or forgetten the XP administrator password, first reboot Windows XP in safe mode by re-starting the computer and pressing F8 repeated as the computer starts up.
Then (in safe mode) click Start and then click Run. In the open box type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes.
You will now have access to all the user accounts, including the administrators account and will be able to reset the lost password.
Just click the administrators user account, and then click Reset Password.
You will need to add a new password in the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and confirm by clicking OK.
Click control panel then click User accounts, pick your account to change, then you can either REMOVE or CHANGE your password.
I forgot my system password. When my computer is turned on
ASAP it asks for a password and not even Dell could help
with there so called reset. I took the harddrive out and
took it to a company and they couldn't even get past it.
So I toss my laptop harddrive in the trash? I'm a very low
income maker and can't afford $$$$$
Any ideas?

If it is asking for a password before anything boots, that is in BIOS not on the hard drive and, it can be reset. Ask Dell how to reset the BIOS.

Red....if trashman hasn't already come.....retrieve that hard drive and re-insert it into your computer. NEXT.....start the computer (Boot up). WHILE computer is booting up.....hit the F8 key, as fast as possible, continuously. This puts you in SAFE MODE.....so you can change Administrative password in BIOS. Also suggest you re-read all the posts that refer to the F8 key.
Look under "edit" button.....you will see , in menu, "find in top window" OR "find on this page". click on it. NEXT....type in F8. That will bring up all posts referencing the F8 solutions on these posts. You will need to click on next for each post. IF THIS DOESN'T CURE YOUR PROBLEM.......TAKE THE ENTIRE COMPUTER (NOT JUST THE DRIVE) TO A COMPUTER REPAIR STORE.
well, there is a way of removing the password and resetting it,but it comes with a price:
You will lose access to its encrypted files, e‑mail messages that are encrypted, and stored passwords for websites or network resources!
If you don't mind/don't have any encrypted stuff, then this should work.
1. restart your PC, when the first screen(before windows loads!) comes, immediately hit the F8 key repeatedly on your keyboard
2. Windows Advanced boot options will appear, use the keyboard and select Safe Mode.
3.Let it start, then log int the Administrator account(not the one with the forgotten password)
4. when the system restore warning dialog box appears, click no(dont use system restore)
5.go to start>control panel>user accounts> click the user accounts icon in the "pick a control panel icon" area
6.go to the account with the forgotten password and click the remove password button
7.follow the on screen instructions, the once you're don restart the PC and let it start windows normally.
hope it works!
you can manage to boot into safe mode, which typically doesn't require a password by default, you can change the admin password like this
start>run>cmd
in cmd type "net user"
press enter
find the name of you administrator account to which you need the password
then proceed by typing "net user USER NEWPASSWORD"
replacing user and newpassword with the respective user account and the password you want for that ccount. if successful, you should be able to log into the administrator account using the new password.
