XP Home/SP3 w/all curreent updates Asus P5N73-AM MotherBoard

Every week I go through my registry to see if I can spot unauthorized/unwanted information, put there by there by companies who think "Invasion of Privacy" doesn't concern them. Schlumberger is now one of those companies.

I have done a quick seach on this? company to find that they are associated with the oil field business. Now what the %^#$ is this information doing in my computer? I have deleted all references to them last week, only to find they have materialized again.

Can anyone tell me exactly who this company is, and why it has reappeared in my registry?

I appreciate any help. Thanks

You search your registry, every week?

How do you do that?

Can you say what the registry entries are?

There are other entries in Google for Schlumberger. How do you know the ones you find are for the oil related company?

Mark

Thanks for replying Mark, I appreciate it. There are a couple different ways to check registry entries. One is by just looking for anything suspicious... you know what programs you have on your machine so there shouldn't be any surprizes.

You can also after a clean install, export your registry to a file and after a week or so you can compare files for any changes.

There are also registry trakers that do that very thing for you.
