I need help installing The Last Remnant on my PC

by hurst8183 - 7/2/09 4:10 PM

I've just bought The Last Remnant but it wont install.

My computer is Packard Bell imedia with a nVidia GeForce 8400GS up to 1032MB, but the game says it requires a GeForce 8600.

Is there anyway to get it to work or do i just need to upgrade

Cheers in advance to anyone who helps me

Vista? 64 Bit? Is this game for Vista 64?

How about UAC? Did you try with it "off?"

Yes i've got vista but only 32bit.

How do i find out if the game requires 64 bit or not? I'm not a PC person if you've not already noticed!

I've just found a site
http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/44360/The-Last-Remnant-PC-Benchmarker-Released
that allows you to download a demo and apparently gives an indication as to wether it will work on your PC. I'm trying that now.

Thanks for helping

To find the system requirements of a game: look on the box. That should mention it. Or google SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS <gamename>, so in your canse "SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS" "LAST REMNANT". Here they are:

Minimum System Requirements
Windows XP SP 2 / Windows Vista SP 1
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (2GHz) / AMD Athlon X2 (2GHz)
RAM: 1.5 GB Ram
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 VRAM 256 Mb
Sound Card: Direct X 9.0c compatible
15 GB Hard Disk space

Recommended System Requirements
Windows Vista SP 1
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (2.4GHz) / AMD Athlon X2 (2.4GHz)
RAM : 2 GB Ram
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 VRAM 512 Mo
Sound Card: Direct X 9.0c compatible
15 GB Hard Disk space

Now go and see if your system meets these requirements. You're the only one who can possibly tell. We can't.

If the only error message you get is about your video card (8400) being insufficient, that probably is the case. Then upgrade.
If there are other errors, please tell them.

The only errors we like to read about here ...

by Kees Bakker Moderator - 7/3/09 1:53 AM In reply to: cheers by hurst8183

are the full and exact error message we can google. And "something about not being able to install a library.dsll ????" certainly isn't. So that's the end of the help.

But it seems worth the trouble to try the install logged on as an administrator and with UAC turned-off, as already suggested by Bob in a post above. You don't tell of you tried that already, but it's a quite plausible solution for the error you told us about.
Google VISTA DISABLE UAC if you don't know how to do that.

Best of luck with the game!

Kees
