Hi,
I've been reading various reviews that the BD1250 is unable to stream video and/or music whether connected via Ethernet or WiFi. However this would directly contradict what's posted on Samsung's website (http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=audiovideo&type=hometheatre&subtype=hometheatresystems&model_cd=HT-BD1250T/XAC):
"You can also stream audio/video files like MP3, DivX® and JPEGs from your PC to your Blu-ray to your TV."
I recently ordered this model from my local electronics store as well as the WiFi LAN Adapter, and should receive it next week. I'm concerned I won't be able to enjoy some of the features that attracted me to this product.
Can you or anyone else who has tried to use these features comment on this?
Thanks,
Christian
The manual for the Samsung HT-BD1250 makes no mention of the PC Streaming feature. I called Samsung and the first Samsung representative also told me that the product does not support PC Streaming. When I complained that the box says it does the representative transferred me to the next tier of support. The representative stated that only the 3600 and 2400 boxes were listed as supporting streaming. Thankfully he had me step through the menus and was able to tell identify the system DOES support streaming. I was able to stream within 2-3 minutes. He suggested I use the manual for the 3600 if I had questions. (http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200904/20090430181628843/01791F-BD-P3600-XAA-ENG-NEW-0427-BM.pdf)
I beg to differ. Page 81 of the 1250 manual contains step-by-step instructions on how to setup PC Streaming.
...but the manual for the HT-BD1250 (no T) does not. Mine doesn't, anyway. On the back, the manual reads "Code No. AH68-02178R"
Hi there,
I'm glad to hear you were able to get streaming to work and hope you can share your success
after I log in using username and password i get a message: "no shared folders" i am using a NAS device - storage connected via the network. the Bluray finds it, i'm able to log in but then get that message.
Where are your media files stored- are they in a specific folder? do you have to log in?
any help would be appriciated
thx

So my system was delivered today and I set it all up properly using WiFi.
I've tried following the instructions from the online manual which list the following:
- Press Menu
- Press the RED (A) button
I've done this time and time again and nothing happens. The only button option that appears on the bottom of the main MENU screen is the GREEN (B) button with an option to 'WPS' (which I can't find any reference to in the manual).
HELP?!
Thanks,
Chris
chrbelange,
WPS is Wi-Fi Protected Setup, which is a feature on some routers that allows the router and adapter to link up.
Do you get any indication that your wireless is working, such as a menu option saying that "Network is connecting" when you first start it up?

Hi,
I've managed to figure out accessing the PC streaming features, however 'Video' doesn't work. I constantly encounter a 'No program is found' error.
'Pictures' and 'Music' work fine so I know it's not a network issue. I've ensured the video files I'm attempting to play are DivX 5 as well.
In fact, I've tried playing a DivX video through PC streaming, DVD-R and USB. The 'Video' option doesn't display any folders regardless of whether there are video files to play or not.
Whereas 'Pictures' and Music' do display the folders regardless of their contents.
I'm under the impression that the video player/codec is actually missing from the firmware on this unit. I've checked for firmware updates and none are available.
I contacted Samsung support yesterday and the rep I spoke to, although very nice, couldn't help me and suggested I call back on Monday and speak to Level 2 Support.
I'm hoping that I can be provided a CD or file I can download and burn on CD that will allow me to flash the firmware that actually includes the video player/codec.
Thoughts?
Hey HD TECH,
Can you confirm what's mentioned in my post above?
If it's true, can you inquire as to whether an ETR is available?
Thanks
chrbelange,
DivX is a supported format, to the best of my knowledge. I'm going to try to have one of our resident experts test that in the next day or two.
With all due respect, you're asking me to confirm what someone posted on the internet saying, "Samsung said...". I just don't know what took place in the conversation, but I'll see what I can find.
If not by then, we'll stay on top of this and find out what's going on. Also, DivX has to be registered in the unit first - not sure if you covered that (probably did!), but it does have to be activated.

Hi HD Tech,
Thanks for quick reply and for looking into this.
There is nothing in the manual about activating DivX, nor did Level 1 or 2 Support mention the need for this either.
If you could provide instructions on how to do so it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
chrbelange,
You are correct. The only mention of DivX in the manual is noting that it is not supported (last sentence on page 13) and the website does note that DivX is not supported in the extended specifications sheet.
For Blu-Ray players that have DivX capabilities, there is now a licensing procedure in the setup menu.
I'd be curious to know why one of our engineers would say it is broken when it doesn't appear that the HD-BD1250 doesn't support it.
I'm not trying to be a wise guy, I just don't see where it says that it is supported anywhere on the website.

Hi HD Tech,
Which user manual were you looking at? There two listed on Samsung website, one for each firmware version.
The correct manual for my unit is the second one (XAC), since that's the firmware version I have on this unit.
There is no mention in that manual either how to activate the DivX feature, so if you could provide step-by-step instructions that would be great.
I'm holding off on sending it to Hinet for repair.
Thanks
chrbelange,
XAC? So is it correct to say that you're in Canada?
I'm not sure why there are two different regional manuals on the same page, but for the time being, I'd like to best help you solve the question at hand first.
