I need honest advice from Samsung about the clouding issue (I got ln52a850) as to whether it can be fixed or not. I haven't seen anyone indicated and/or confirmed that. If it can't be fixed that's fine with me; I'll keep it anyway because the pictures are very beutiful and the best in my opinion. I was reading too much about the clouding and became obsessive about it. Every time I watch it I was just looking for the clouding rather than enjoying the TV. I've stopped doing that for a couple days, and now the TV become enjoyable again. So just let me know if I should schedule for the service tech or not. I don't know if the tech's skill is even better than mine. I don't want the tech messing around with my TV if it can't be fixed.
I have the same issue with clouding on my set. I didnt notice it until about a week after owning the set. My issue occurs after the TV is warmed up for around 25 minutes or so. After that the clouds appear on dark scenes. To me its very disturbing because the picture quality on this TV is remarkable. I have already scheduled a tech from Samsung & PC Richards is also coming out this week to examine. In my opinion there will be NO way to fix this issue. I will not accept this imperfection for a $2k + television. I have a Pioneer plasma for over 3 years and never experienced a single issue.
I would suggest you call Samsung and schedule a service appointment. Samsung should not put these sets on the market with this issue. I am thoroughly dissapointed with this as it is completeley taking away from my viewing experience. If the color and overall picture wasnt as stunning as it is, then this might be expected in a lesser set. The fact that the picture is so fantastic otherwise makes this an issue for me.
I have the same problem with mine. I bought the set in December from Amazon. I had bad clouding in the corners and a spot off center. I called and a tech came out and said the panel needed to be replaced. They sent a new panel and replaced my old one. This was a fairly painless operation and I was excited to have a good television for my home theater.
However, the new one has worse clouding than the old one. Now instead of clouding in the corners I have clouding in one corner and four big clouds right in the center of the screen. I called the tech again and after messing with it for an hour and calling Samsung he said that it's just tough luck. That is the way that the monitor is supposed to be and that no one else has complained. I showed how distracting the clouds were in an episode of Star Trek (they are very noticable during any of the space scenes) and his comment was "pretend they are nebula". Nice!
However, I find it completely unacceptable. I purchased a top of the line model hoping to avoid quality issues. I called again and this time he said he just came from a Samsung tech meeting where they spent most of the time discussing this problem. The new solution was to update the firmware and turn down the back light so it can't go over a certain brightness. It seems to me this would reduce your contrast ratio. If the set won't function at the contrast ratios advertised then it shouldn't be advertised at those ratios. Besides even when I turn the backlight all the way down you can still see the clouds. I just want my money back at this point. I have a smaller Samsung LCD (32") which has no trouble and 5 Samsung computer monitors which I have loved. I was very disappointed with this tv. It does not perform as advertised and they are trying to avoid fixing the issue by saying this is just how they are. That is garbage. Plenty of competitors have large LCDs that don't have this problem so it isn't inherent in the technology. It is just a bad design on Samsung's part.
I would suggest the same course of action that has been mentioned in other posts of this nature. Calling 800-SAMSUNG would be your best bet. Unfortunately there are no fixes I can offer and a live tech would be able to help diagnose the issue much better then I can on here.

Im having the same problem with by 55 LED 7series Television. I discovered this problem the moment i turned the TV on. Didnt think anything of it until i really sat down and tried to enjoy a movie! It sucks because i spent $3500 for this TV. Its really annoying!
I've called Samsung, contacted Samsung online Techs and Best Buy. I get different Answers from everyone! Samsung says they dont know what im talking about, Online Tech says its a problem with Samsung Technology, Best Buy just tell me to Replace the TV and in this Forum, I dont even get an Answer i just read all the same complaints that others our having.
FYI, i had my TV replaced when i first noticed the white clouds and The Brand New TV(out the BOX) has the same F*cking issue!! Come on Samsung!! I thought it was just my TV Model but after readinf numerous complaints, it is obvious that non-LED TV's are experiencing the same issues.
DigitalG54,
I can understand your frustration, but getting riled up is not going to solve the problem. I will not say I do not know what you are talking about when it comes to this issue. In my personal experience, even if i have not personally seen the problem, I know that if something can go wrong, eventually it will. Unfortunately, I just don't have an active resolution for you at this time.
You can guarantee that we will be escalating this issue and as soon as we have an answer, we will be pushing it through.

It's november, and I don't see a post to these threads with a link to a message or topic that includes a resolution to this issue. What has Samsung decided on this matter? I purchased the TV in April, and the clouding is quite noticable.
