Problem w/ my bd-p3600

by ajones2528 - 6/22/09 6:01 PM

When I start my bd-p3600 I get this low resolution screen thats blurry. If there is a disc in the player when I turn it on the player says loading and doesn't do anything, it just stays there. If there isn't a disc inside, it does the same thing just minus the loading on the player. Now I have checked all of the cables, shut it off, etc. I am pretty sure its the player only because when I do put in a disc a the player says loading and it will NOT get off of that screen. I have only had this blu-ray for about a month and a half so it is a little discouraging that I would pay that much and already have a major problem like this come up. I've searched the forum and couldn't find any errors like this one so sorry if this is a duplicate thread. Is there any way to fix this or am I looking at warranty? Thanks.

Problem w/ my bd-p3600

ajones2528,

Are you referring to the blue splash screen when the unit first boots?

You might try pressing holding down the FF button on the unit for about 10 seconds to see if a reset will fix the issue. Otherwise, it may requires a service.

Keep me posted.

Yea that is the screen that it is getting stuck on. I tried holding down all of the fast forward buttons I could think of, 2 on the remote and one on the player, and it still would not

BD-P3600 Freezing

by tomilycdg - 6/28/09 9:09 PM In reply to: Problem w/ my bd-p3600 by ajones2528

I too have had my p3600 for about a month and a half. Last week, was the first time I've had the screen just freeze up. Both of those times, holding down the FF button worked. But this time, FF didn't work nor did unplugging. It never moves from "load". If I open and close, then it just displays "close" forever.
Being that I already spent two weeks trying to get the player hooked up wirelessly to my Airport, I'm thinking I should just return the whole thing.

Wireless

by MrDerbyUK - 6/29/09 12:39 AM In reply to: BD-P3600 Freezing by tomilycdg

Does the unit do it with the wireless/network connection removed?

I'm just wondering if it's getting stuck trying to connect to the net.

Thanks

BD-P3600 Freezing

tomilycdg,

I wonder the same thing that MrDerbyUK mentioned. Perhaps the unit is freezing due to trying to connect and verify a connection to a network.
Have you tried turning the network connection off on the BD unit?

BD-P3600 Freezing

by tomilycdg - 6/30/09 8:30 PM In reply to: BD-P3600 Freezing by Samsung_CE_Tech Samsung staff

Thanks for responding. Here's what I've done today.
1. I can't actually get to the screen to undo the network connection from the dvd player.

2. In the off chance that it'd work, I removed the wireless adapter - same frozen screen (flickering red blue lines with the blue bubble background). I can't get to the screen to undo the network from the dvd player. tried to reset with FF & unplugged and turned on again- nothing

3. I added the wireless adapter back on, tried to reset- got some wavy green lines, and then it froze with vertical lines for a change. But this reverted back to horizontal when I turned the machine off and back on.

I agree, it may have something to do with the network connection. Once I actually got the connection to work with airport, it was working great until about 2 weeks ago. It started with small troubles that could be reset, and kept getting progressively worse. I am at a loss for what to do next.

Thanks

tomilycdg,

At this point, I would implore you to contact service at 800-SAMSUNG. They should be able to help you further as well as set up some sort of service on the unit.

Quality HDMI Cables

by pilotguy1978 - 7/23/09 1:27 PM In reply to: BD-P3600 Freezing by Samsung_CE_Tech Samsung staff

I've had a similar problem with freezing and 'green' lines on the screen. I had to plug it to the TV using standard composite cable (yellow RCA) and then goto the setup changing the resolution to 1080i. That worked, then I bought a quailty HDMI cable instead of the cheap $6 one from the internet and returned it to 1080p...now works fine with no problems. If you were to use a quality HDMI cable from the get go you should not have to use the composite to change the resolution. Hope this helps

Same Problem but found solution.

by AnomicsAcid - 10/25/09 10:55 AM In reply to: Problem w/ my bd-p3600 by ajones2528

I had the same problem and freaked out trying to find out what was wrong and looked at lots of threads trying to see how many others had the same problem and saw that there quite a few and no solutions. I email SAMSUNG tech support and I got a response(suprizingly on Sunday). They said that this will happen if you update(or if it automatically updates itself) the unit to 2.04 firmware and the model code is bd-p3600a. bd-p3600 works fine with the update but bd-p3600a doesn't. So if there is an 'A' at the end of the model code DO NOT UPDATE as I believe it will brick your player. SAMSUNG told me to request service and have them fix it under warranty. $15 shipping BTW. Who knows how long it will take them to fix it...

Freezes On Load

by gjliston - 10/27/09 7:32 AM In reply to: Same Problem but found solution. by AnomicsAcid

This seems to be a pretty common problem! My only solution was to pay 60 bucks for labor and have it shipped to California! I think it is a bunch of crap and a low quality product if Samsung cant figure out a way to prevent this! They know it is a problem yet i could never find anything on their website! What prevents it from happening again????
