there is an utility, crammed in an 1.44 diskette, which boots a tiny Linux and allows you to clean up the password.
Just Google "windows xp password reset" to find several sites with free ways to create a bootable floppy or cd running Linux to reset your Administrators password. Of course you'll have to do this on another computer since you can access yours.
Using another Computer, Google "ERD Commander" a free program from Microsoft that has some ustilities that will run from CD. Save and burn the ISO file to CD. One of the utilities is "Recover / Reset Password" Here is a video that shows how: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUnbwsyzupk
If it does not work for Vista, for $20 you can buy Windows Password Reset 5.0 at http://www.reset-windows-password.com/?gclid=COeX_uD3l5sCFR0SagodQiOtpg
GOOD LUCK !!! Keep us posted....
Trying to reinstall Windows XP Media Edition on my laptop which was knocked out by XP Service Pak 3, I learned a lot about my computer. Since I have 2 desktops I could just play around and learn from the laptop. Just before windows starts press F2 which brings up your system. You should be very careful what you change but at the end they ask if you want to exit or exit and apply changes so you can change your mind. Go into security, then passwords (they give directions at the bottom of the page.)and there you can disable them or add one. If anyone out there disagrees with me they could be right but I had to go through all of this while reinstalling software.
I'm not sure what type system you have but it sounds like your talking abot the Motherboards BIOS Program which it uses to recognize, boot-up, and symphonize the internal components of the computer. ie: hard drive, cpu, disk drives, etc. Inexperienced users that alter settings in this program are subject to total computer failure. Changing even the boot sequence can stop you cold. Many of these programs have password capability that you can enable or disable. I believe that is the security area that you are making refrence to.
This program will always prompt you "exit" or "save and exit". It does that because it wants you to be sure that the changes you are making are the correct ones. I hope this helped you.
I have used a program called Spotmau, you boot your computer using the Spotmau CD and it will let you remove the existing passwords, you then boot the computer normally and, if you want, create new passwords.I think there are other programs which will do the same thing. John Ely

Windows passwords are amazingly easy to get by. Anyone who has the knowledge and tools can get into any windows installation in minutes. The following will regain your computer access, no matter what password your account had.
1. Using another computer, download UBCD4Win. (The Ultimate Boot CD For Windows - http://download.cnet.com/UBCD4Win/3000-2086_4-10550208.html)
2. Burn UBCD4Win to a CD. Most modern CD burning software should have the capability to burn from a disk image to a disc. If it doesn't CDBurnerXPPro is free and has this capability. (http://cdburnerxp.se/download.php)
3. Boot your computer from the CD.
4. Navigate to the password tool "Sala Password Renew" and use it to reset your password.
5. Boot from your main drive and easily access your computer.
UBCD4Win also has many other useful tools for other situations and is a good tool to keep on hand for when situations like this occur.
When I forgot my Windows XP password, I just ran the computer in Safe Mod then I was able to get on to the control password then I removed the password...idk if that helps or not....
to my knowlage if you lose your admin password for your o/s and have no chance of remembering it all mother boards have a defult password reset some are done in different ways but if youve got a manual 4 your pc or mother board look it up and it should give you directions on how to reset the master password 4 your pc i hope this helps ya
I know you say you have forgotten your Admin password but a lot of people call their account the admin password but if you have an account with a name on it then there may still be the Administrator Account on the machine which has no password on it so in this case all you have to do is log on to your computer in safe mode and log into the Administrator account and go to users in control panel and remove the password from your account.
Or you can also Use a free CD Called Hirens Boot CD this will get rid of your password for you.
Hope this is of some help.
SIMPLE SOLUTION.. SHUT YOUR SYSTEM COMPLETELY DOWN, UNPLUG THE PC THEN OPEN HER UP, THEN FIND THE SMALL BATTERY ON THE MOTHERBOARD, PULL IT OFF OR UNSOLDER IT, DO WHAT EVER YOU NEED TO DO TO DISCONNECT IT.. THEN PUT IT BACK IN.. CLOSE THE PC, PLUG IT BACK IN AND FIRE IT BACK UP, YOU NOW HAVE RESET ANY PASSWORD YOU MAY HAVE HAD TO ACCESS WINDOWS AND DON'T PUT ANOTHER BACK IN OR AT LEAST WRIT IT DOWN AND PUT IT INSIDE THE PC CABINET..
This is brilliant. I've printed your reply out and am keeping it in case I ever need it. So simple! Makes one wonder why anyone bothers putting a password on Windows at all if it's that easy to crack.
i need dell d600 Admin password
