i have an acer aspire 4925g laptop with nvidia geforce 9300m (256mb).
i have vista home premium (original) installed on it with all the latest updates (sp2). i even updated the display drivers for graphics card.
but it seems that whenever i switch on my laptop the resolution always changes to 800 X 600 pixels instead of the preferred 1280 X 800 pixels (32bit color) which the laptop screen looks best in and the one i have set to.
the refresh rate is fixed @ 60 hertz and i cannot change that.
i dont know why this keeps happening every time but its annoying to reset my desktop icons again and again...more than that i don't want that 800X600 resolution at all !
please help.
thanks

My brother's machine did that. I bet this is not the only cure for this but we disabled UAC (see google) and the next time it took the setting fine. No, I will no longer reply to 'What is UAC?' questions. Sorry.
Also if you have other "protection" software it can stop the setting from being saved.

That's fixed to that value due to the move to LCD displays. There must be a million posts about that by now but for today it is not an issue except to gamers, etc.

i changed the resolution in my games to the widescreen res (1280 X 800) i have more my desktop and disabled the nod32 notification and things seem to work smoothly now.
thanks for the help.
