aol software

by brooklyn354 - 5/22/09 6:40 AM

I use the aol software and need to know how to delete old uneeded e-mail addresses from the drop down menu in the read /write mail window. Every time I want to send an email the drop down menu comes up and has old email addresses that I can choose from, I try to right click on it to delete them but it wont let me.

Here's the link to AOL Mail Help. They should be able to get you on the right track.

It's simple!

1. Open AOL.

2. Open your Address Book.

3. Click each name you want to delete (hold down the Ctrl key to select more than one).

4. Right click the name(s) you want to delete and select Delete. Left click Delete and they will be gone.

I tried that all that does is fade the choices from the drop down send to in the aol mail....it does not get rid of them.

AOL fix

The best thing you can do for yourself and your computer is use a better uninstaller than Windows offers (revo uninstaller = free) and uninstall everything connected to AOL. I'm surprised they still have any customers at all. Any of the three big free email is so much better than AOL mail that they aren't even in the same category. And AOL spreads itself in so many places it's like cancer trying to get rid of it. But it is well worth the effort.

AOL bloatware

by otr_man - 6/21/09 1:07 PM In reply to: AOL fix by gulfstreamtec

I had a nightmare computer at work, that was heavily infected with AOL bloatware. But my boss refused to risk any downtime by having the horrid thing cleaned out. I will never use any AOL software again - ever!

(This is a statement of opinion - AOL's lawyers please note!)

I Dumped AOL Years Ago.

One of the best things I ever did was get rid of AOL. It was amazing the speed boost I realized after AOL was gone. AOL was probably a pretty good company during the dial-up days of the mid to late 90's but I would never use it even if I had to use dial-up because of no broadband.
