Samsung 32" A series or B series.

by 12danny21 - 4/29/09 8:34 PM

My parents have owned a crt television for some time now and i want to purchase them a lcd tv from samsung knowing how good their tvs are. I notice in my tv stand i can only fit a 32" in there. I have been contemplating on which tv i should get. i have been looking at the A450 and the A550. Til recently i have seen the B450 and the B550. And now i am lost. i just want to get the most bang for my buck such as possibly 1080p and 120hz if that really matters or not. the television is for my parents so i do not think they would really notice the difference between 60 to 120hz so that is not a problem. but i think the 1080p would be nice. So the price range is roughly 800 plus or minus a few due to tax and such. From what i have seen, the A450 and A550 are my best choice in the price range and the B450 and B550 as well. please help me im new at this tv business and also confused. thanks everybody

Maybe this article will help in your decision

Saw the samsung ln32b540 (720p 32") at costco and sam's club for $550 if you're a member. I own the ln32a540 and it accepts a 1080p
signal unlike my ln32a450 that doesn't. Both of these are
720p. Are you planning to buy a blu-ray for them? If not
720p would be just fine. Enjoy the article and good luck.
I see the ln32a550 (1080p) is $700 at best buy right now. That's
the lowest it's been since christmas. The ln32b530 (1080p) is
$700 at sam's club.

Samsung 32" A series or B series.

12danny21,

Welcome to the forum, and feel free to search the forums and ask any questions that you'd like. We're here to help.

A brief overview:
The "A" and "B" series denotes 2008="A", and 2009="B"
The 4-Series will be 720p, both in the "A" and "B".
The 5-Series will be 1080p, both in the "A" and "B".

120Hz won't come into play until you reach the 6-Series and above, and 32" and above.

So 120Hz will be available on 32" and above, on the 6-Series and up.

120Hz is good for fast motion scenes, and regular picture processing as well, but the real determination would be to actually look at the picture quality in the store to know which one give you the "best bang". The retailers determine the prices, and perhaps someone has some input on that.

(Anyone know of any awesome deals out there?)

Hope that helps, and if you have any other questions, please let us know.

Some exceptions:

Couple of exceptions: the LN-32B540 is a 720p display, not a 1080.
All 19 and 22" displays are 720p including 650 versions.
