Verizon Wireless Phone Shuffle

So here's the story. I am not eligible for a upgrade with Verizon Wireless, but I want a new phone. My mom is eligible for an upgrade. Is it possible for her to use her upgrade to get the phone i want, and then simply switch the phone to my number/plan and switch my phone to hers? Just a straight trade. Has anyone done this, or does anyone know if it is possible? Thanks in advance.
