Thank you for the comments. I would love to use WMP and not Samsung's software (which I can only get pictures to work). When I share my media using WMP11 my Samsung LN46a850 recognizes the network but when I try to select the music folder it says "Request cannot be completed. Wiselink will be return to the main screen." (Yes with the typo...) Could my Music folder be too large? (16 gb?)I am running Windows XP. What is interesting...my wife's computer uses Vista and it works perfectly with the TV - even the first time, no software or anything!
Playon also works for me to stream from youtube, hulu, etc.
The reason I asked if the folder was too large, I was able to get Samsung PC Share to work on a test folder with only one mp3 in it.
Re: 'Request cannot be completed' in WiseLink. I got this error when my TV saw the network and even saw the devices (XP and Vista machines). It turned out the TV itself was not an "Allowed" device in WMP settings.
The TV showed up as an 'Unknown Device.' I had to 'Allow sharing' to that device (my TV) in WMP, and the problem went away. It is possible to set WMP 11 to accept requests from DLNA devices automatically, although MS warns you that 'it is not recommended.' Mine was set to "manual," and I just had to add the TV to the list of allowed devices. There was a notification icon in the Tray alerting me of a new device requesting premission or something...
I haven't played with folder sizes. It wouldn't surprise me if there *is* some silly folder size limitation like that... Don't know for sure though...

Since my setting was already set to automatically add new devices my tv showed up the same as yours as an unknown device. I tried to deny it and then allow it but that didn't make any change. I then foolishly removed the device from the list...arg...and now I can't get it back. "To remove the device from the list of available devices, disconnect the device from your network. In the Share my media to box, right-click the device, and then click Remove from list". Unfortunately the windows help doesn't say how to add a device to the list.
I think if you disable Media Sharing in WMP, close the player, then open it and re-enable sharing, WMP erases all the previous settings, and you're basically starting anew. (you may not even have to close and re-open WMP)
But I see you've already figured out a way to reset it...

Share Manager has more options for content management - searching within folders. It creates a database of thumbnails for everything it finds on your added folders. WMP seems very limited in comparison.
I also think (but am not completely certain) that SM may offer more file types, but maybe this just depends on how WMP is configured.
Well is the C: drive thing fixed yet?
Not sure what the problem was on that, but "My Documents" are on my H: drive. No problem seeing the files.
I have several TB of data on varying drives, SAN......it's about as useful as a light house in a desert.
The question I replied to was: "Is the Samsung software any better than WMP"? Some posters have said no. My experience is that the Samsung provides much better content browsing, with multiple search options, whereas WMP and the one other I have tried provide only the "Basic" view. This makes for easier finding and viewing of pictures.
Music is not bad either, as long as you don't rely on the TV's own sound system. Some tags don't quite get picked up correctly (though I couldn't figure out why), while the software seems to add tags of its own ("sad", "rhythmical", etc - not sure how they do that).
Better content management may be a result of PCSM's more thorough library search when new folders are added. I expect this would be disconcerting if you had a lot of data to index.
I'm guessing the negative opinions stem from disappointment over the streaming video, which might have created raised expectations in buyers. Of course, I agree that it's not really suitable for day-to-day video playback - you still need something external for that. However, it seems to cope well enough with home video, just not with recorded or downloaded TV.
I've found that the WMP11 server doesn't always appear as a device on the TV menu, even when it's running alongside PCSM on the same machine. So my conclusion is that PCSM is more reliable and functional than WMP11, at least, as a server for my Samsung TV.

Ok, since this is a DLNA dedicated topic, I may ask here
1. Shall any portforwarding take place in the router?I wouldn't expect so since there is no traffic with the outside world i.e. Internet and the router could as well as be off-line but still...
2. When playing some older .avi with DLNA(which works pretty fine until now, no complaints, better than having a USB stick all the time carried around) I encounter problems with playback(sometimes playback stops and the next file in the folder si displayed, arg!) and with FFW/RW(they work for about 10''-20'' each time and I have to wait for playback before I can FFW again)
Hi I have a LE55B650 wired to a router.
I have PC share (2.1) installed on a server 2003.
I have shared 2 folders (containing about 25 subfolders each) of music and video.
I also installed it (2.0) on a vista business PC.
I can connect to both "media servers".
I can see previews of my images and movies.
I can start a movie, but after about 5 minutes the connection gets broken when it gets streamed from the server (2.1).
Anyone else experiencing the same?
I have a Vista 32 Ultimate with PC Share Manager v2.1. and a LE46 7 series.
It has happen to me, too. The same, but after 90 min. (or 10, or 20...) so I had to wait 45 to the same point with FF, now playing from USB drive, because my PC network connection crash and also I have to re-activate my network adapter. While dlna server (or network connection) is down, I can access to Internet widgets from my TV so I'm sure the problem is not the rooter...
I have opened a topic about a similar about 3-4 weeks ago for a LED 46'' 7 series with DLNA streaming from Wi-Fi router using PC Share Manager on a XP+SP2 PC
What I did was taking of the wireless adapter and reconfiguring the network(reconnecting, inserting WEP key etc). That seemed to work but 1 week later, same problem. Now I have narrowed my subnet to just the IPs I'm actually using and again let the adapter cool down and reconfigure the network, it works ok for the last couple of weeks. Hope not to see it again
So, since you say that you've using wire, I guess it has nothing to do with the wifi part
PS. Also noticed, once the problem happened, it kept happening more often(i.e. if I lost connection 45' through a movie and FFW to this point, the next time I lost connection after just 10' and so on)
