The Plasma display had much brighter colors and much darker blacks.
No, I did not look at the remotes. That's a good point; I'm planning to go back again when I get the time (I'm not planning to purchase for a couple of months due to funds,) and I'll check the remotes out then.
Rob
the new samsung plasma displays have a serious buzzing issue that bascially makes the set unwatchable.
zpop,
Which model are you experiencing the buzz on?

The buzz are on all the new plasma models in the B series... Really, do you have a quality problem at samsung??. There has been several pols and way over 50% have so much buzzing they cant turn the tv on.. Can you explain why you are shipping this tv out to customers..
and where is this posted...where is your resources?
In fact it is over 50% that has buzz :
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1144869
38% wich are bothered by it and some more that hear it
Uhh, more people on that poll don't hear it or aren't bothered by it than are bothered by it..
I don't know what you're looking at.
i Know that more people do not having any buzz.. In fact around 50% DONT have it.. That means that still 50% have issus with this and that is just way way to much.. If you read a couple of the samsun plasma -09 tread there is a lot and I mean a LOT of people talking about this issue. That is what I am basing this on.. There have been people had issue with buzzing, samsung have changed their panels up to tree times AND STILLE get sets that have buzzing.. If there are 50% of the plasmas that are buzzing then samsung have some quality controll issues...
True.
I have read through that entire thread and have noticed a lot or maybe even most of the people with a problem don't have a b860.
That's what I'm getting in a couple weeks, so here's to hoping for no buzz.
Page one of that entire discussion notes a user who went to check his 7 year old CRT that he never noticed a buzz on, and now that he looked for it, he found it.
I asked several times which model you own that you're experiencing this with. If you have a problem, and it's "unwatchable", it can - and will - get serviced to fix the issue.
I've seen one owner (Zpop) personally report one buzz issue, and 5 answers from a different user saying that "there is buzz out there". Any television with phosphors will make a slight noise, as will any plasmas.
For fun, check out the responses on other plasma units out there. There are some polls that have some interesting results, for those inclined to look.
So here is our statement with regards to any "buzzing" noise:

I have sent my 58" B855 back, the buzz was so bad that it gave me a headache in only 30 minutes, absolutely not acceptable!!!
I have owned three plasma TV:s before and none of them even came close to the Samsung, to hear buzz from them you had to go to the TV:s backside and lay your head against it. The Samsung is hearable from distance up to 40ft, it's absolutely unbearable.
And the whole display in fact emitts the sound as a gigant speaker, the worse spot is right in the viewing spot in the middle of the screen about 15ft away.
junkan_68,
Well, it sounds like the panel was definitely defective. I hope you got an exchange or replacement that suits your needs better.
Thanks for giving us a try.
Best,
