Vista compatible older Canon printers - ???

by drfugawe - 6/7/09 8:01 PM

Hi,
I have sev older Canon printers which either use non-chipped cartridges, or their chipped carts are still easy to fill. However, none of them are compatible with Vista, and this makes them unstable on my home network (ie, they will print on the network, but only immediately after a fresh reboot of my laptop). Eventually, I get a Vista "conflict" message that suggests I go to Canon.com to get a new, compatible driver for my printer - of course, there is none.

Apparently, Canon has chosen not to up upgrade drivers for any but a few of it's older printers - my question is how to find out which of the older Canon inkjets have Vista compatible drivers?

Thanks for your response.

Orphaned printers

The answers are there at Canon support website. Obviously if they don't supply Vista drivers, they become orphaned. This is all too common when a new OS comes out. About the only solution is a small network using the main OS the printer was supported on, thus drivers. That said, XP is a natural choice in conjunction with Vista. If that is what what you have, then explain what *all* you have. However, for the amount of cost for a new Vista supported printer maybe far the better and quicker solution maybe less costly than you think.

tada -----Willy :)
