Long boot time in BIOS

by Aeirlys - 6/6/09 5:46 PM

Hello,

When I boot my computer, it stays on the Dell splash screen for a long time and then I get a command prompt for 2-3 minutes. Once Windows starts loading the system boots very quickly. Any idea what's causing the problem? I've checked the boot order and that appears to be fine.

Thanks!
Aeirlys

But it is a common source of the delay.

I installed a hp j6400s wireless printer for about a week now.
I do not have any problem with wireless printing. I have problem with booting ,since I installed the printer it takes almost 4 to 5 minuts for my computer to boot up.
Got in touch with hp support after 45 min. talking no solution.
I have a dell xps g5 with 3.2ghz processor and 3gb of ram and using
window xp with explorer 8.
I need help.
