Nighttime video using infrared light and camcorders

by bhuberty - 5/31/09 7:13 AM

Trying to find a camcorder with a built in infrared light so one can record night time images of wildlife. In particular, I need to set it to start at a particular time (say 2:30am) to record. This does not have to be totally self sufficient without a power cord attached but running off a battery and be able to record for a couple hours would be nice. And it needs to be quiet. Suggestions?

Camcorders usually don't have built-in timers.

But you could use a laptop and some special software to do that for you. Just make sure which ever one you get is able to be used with that software. Most camcorders (Sony especially) have infrared lighting.
