I have a BDP-1500 connected to a LN46A650 w/ HDMI and have had it since Thanksgiving. I upgraded to the 2.1 firmware when I set it up. Since then, every once and a while, the BD player will disconnect in the middle of a movie. The unit still says "Play", but the TV acts like I just shut the BD player off. Sometimes if I hit pause and play, it will reconnect at 720p(according to the TV) instead of 1080. The picture quality isn't good when it comes back. Normally, it doesn't even work with that and I have to turn the BD player off and restart the movie. Tonight, after restarting, it got hung up before the Menu screen of the movie for the first two attempts. Its working again right now.
The movie is "Australia". It also did it with "Benjamin Button" last week. Other "new movie" Blu-Rays like Dark Knight and The Wrestler have run fine. I don't believe it has occurred with DVD, but can't remember for sure. I don't see anything about it in the 2.4 firmware update, so I haven't jumped to load it on there. The TV does not disconnect from the other HDMI source (cable box) or the Wii, so I do not think it is a TV issue.
Any ideas?
No thoughts on what the issue here might be? Is Samsung aware of any problem with the firmware that cause the Blu-Ray to stop outputting picture and sound with some of the newer Blu-Ray discs?
Donniebrasco,
I do know that new titles often have java-coding that we offer updates for. It's up to you if you want to update the firmware or not, but if you're experiencing these issues, a firmware may fix the issue.
