I dunno

I dunno... I'm far from a Microsoft fan, but I don't particularly mind Vista that much. The key to a good experience with ANY OS, not just Windows, is ensuring that you run it on quality hardware. You buy some sub-$500 POS system, you've got to expect that the highlight of the ownership experience will be the span between buying it in the store and turning it on for the first time.

I don't care if you're running Windows, Linux, or any other OS. It's like trying to build a skyscraper on the beach. The land (hardware) just can't support that kind of weight (OS requirements) and the whole thing is destined to come crashing down.

You buy quality hardware, either by building yourself, or avoiding any system that's less than about $1000 before promotional sales, and you will have a much more enjoyable experience overall.

VISTA/HARDWARE /ETC

I hear you Jimmy. Had a guy bring in and OLD L/T, had been upgraded from WIN 2000 to VISTA HOME PREMIUM. He wondered why it was not reacting well. Celeron processor, 256 mb of ram. Uhhhhh, what can I say, sort of like trying to tow a ten ton truck with a Volkswagen beetle. Yes, hardware DOES matter.
