Hi, I'm having some problems conecting to some wireless networks with my Vaio FW. This happens with some networks (at the time 2 and both are Linksys), when I open the window to connect to a network I go to select the network (for example linksys) but where it should say Unsecured Network it says "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network." (and a red X instead of the signal bars) I'm not very savvy with these wireless setups but I use this network once in a while and the computer is fairly new. Thanks all, ask for more info if you want ![]()
Here are the computer's specs just in case:
-Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 @ 2.0 GHz
-4 GB RAM
-300-ish hard drive
-Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100
If so, disable the broadcast flag as it can be the cause.
Read from http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=vista+broadcast+flag
Now there are some that will question this but it is the first thing I do for a Vista wifi connection issue.

Oh yes, it's Vista, sorry I tried but it didn't work. Anyway thanks for the help! ![]()
Our Networking forum admonishes the following.
1. Router at latest firmware or what they tell us to use.
2. Router defaults then,
3. WPA for security.
That works 99.99% of the time. Of course if you have DSL or other needs, be sure to accommodate that.
