Note that we have provided two picture setting groups. The first, for THX mode, was used in our evaluation. However, since it's somewhat dark, we also adjusted the Custom mode to achieve a higher light output (40ftl). We prefer the look of THX overall, but you may find Custom better for slightly brighter, albeit still relatively dim, rooms.

I was looking to get the G10 series, the 42inch verison but I am little bit worried about the picture from your guys view plus what I seen at best buy. does the inaccurate secondary colors of cyan/magenta make that big of a difference. does the yellows/green tent you guys described really noticeable? the big thing I noticed at best buy which is holding me back is the picture quality of blueray on the panasonic plasmas. I noticed it looked a lot more grainier compared to the samsung 650 which was right beside it. now it wasn't the actual movies but more like AD commercials that shows off the t.v. Does the G10 have a grainier blue ray picture compared to LCds?
idk
Best Buy has their G10s set on "Vivid." Change it to STANDARD, CUSTOM, OR THX. Either do it yourself or just ask one of the sales people. You'll be surprised the difference that it makes. Just got my G10 and it is amazing.
Will these picture settings work for the TC-P50G10 as well?
I mistakenly listed the S1 models under "related reviews," since corrected, but yeah, these should get you in the ballpark for the TC-P50G10 too.
Thanks David
How come you recommend keeping Video NR set to Weak? Artificially blurs the image, I find.
Why do you leave the sharpness setting at 75 in THX mode, but lower it to 0 for Custom? Shouldn't it be 0 for both picture modes?
Also, I understand why 3:2 pulldown would be grayed out in Custom mode because you're feeding it a 1080p signal, but why is it NOT grayed out in THX? Shouldn't 3:2 pulldown only be available when dealing with interlaced signals?
Thanks David!
Contrast at 100 is way too high. Do not mean to doubt David K in any way. I think 85 is more on the mark, no? http://www.tweaktv.com/tweak-my-tv/calibration-guide/panasonic-tc-p46g10.html
I got my Panasonic TC-P50G10 about a month ago. I have a ps3 for my blu-ray player but when I play a BD I get very good picture but not as good as when I go to a store and see there display models that are hooked up to a Blu-ray player. I have HDMI cables I have tried several new BD movies. It looks like i'm getting a 720p picture. The picture at the store almost looks weird because it is so clear...I'm not getting that picture. I do have all the settings on the ps3 set up properly 1080p viewing. Can anyone help?
I brought this TV , week ago, I would like to find the better setting for my TV,
I find few blur images on the HD Channels, I have changed my Cable settings to output 1080i, Can you please direct me some basic settings which i have to change to view my TV well,
Just wanted to let you know I am not real techy here, just wanted some nice images from this good TV.
Thanks for your inputs.
while changing picture mode from THX to standard I can see a bright flash on my screen....i can see very light pink shades near bottom right and left corners....and also while running white bar scroll, I could see some light cloudy spots..seems like the coating is non-uniform on the display....or dead pixel?.not sure.....but while watching movie picture looks amazing though....tv has about 10 hrs on it.
kindly let me know if these are known issues with g10 model or something wrong with my g10 panel..
I've had my G15 for two weeks and I'm not in love. My friends have the Samsung LN52A750 and their picture seems WAY better. Colors are more vibrant. I've compared sports and a few movies (HD broadcast, not DVD which is at 480) and theirs looks better. I'm seriously thinking about returning it. I calibrated mine to the CNET specs, to the factory specs and then some tweaking on my own - not as good as the Samsung. We both have the same HD TV sorce (Cox Cable). The color difference with cyan does seem to be an issue. ![]()
