I uninstalled AVG Free to see if it was causing problems with my installation of the latest Adobe Flash player. When I tried to download and reinstall, I kept getting "File is corrupt" message. I tried to download it 2 or 3 times and same thing.
Why is this happening now?
HP DV6646US - Windows Home Vista
AMD Turion 64x2
I have the latest free AVG Version 8.5.329 as well as the latest Adobe Flash Player.
They are and have been compatible since 1999 when I first stated with a home PC.
Suggest you do a clean uninstall of AVG including deleting the folder in C:\Program Files\ Grisoft or AVG.
D/L a fresh copy prior to the above action and save it to desktop.
Once you have cleanly uninstalled AVG re- execute the d/l.
Post back if problems persist and we can look at some Registry Editing.
The copy of AVG Free 8.5 may have been corrupted on their website. I just downloaded another copy the next day and it worked fine. Thanks for the response.
I was having the same problem. It has nothing to do with the file being corrupt. It has everything to do with your registry that was probably recently tweaked or cleaned. Reopen your registry cleaner. I use CCleaner. Select Registry, then " Scan for Issues " then " Fix " you must do this 3 times to remove ALL issues.. then double click the AVG install icon. This should fix the problem and let your AVG install!
