Amazon is currently selling both the WD Green and Black 1TB drives.
For sheer speed, the WD Black drive runs @ 7,200rpms and has a 5 year warranty $99.99 + Free shipping:
Go Black
For storage purposes, the WD Green drive runs between 5,400 - 7,200 rpms and can use as little as 2watts to power it. It has a 3 year warranty. $89.99 + Free Shipping:
Go Green
If you intend to install the WD Black edition in a RAID Array you need to purchase the WD "Black RE3" drives as the processing time on the plain "Black" versions is too long and can and do "drop out" of the array making things really messy.
Pricing from a very popular e-tailer places the "Black" 1TB at ~$100 and the "Black RE3" 1TB at $160.
My opinion though is if you are only doing RAID1 you will PROBABLY (don't quote me) be ok using the plain "Black" drives.
