Hello.
I know that it is never recommended to use an operating system as a primary OS but I also know that windows 7 is pretty much vista just better.
I also know that it is very stable, ALL of my programs work fine with it and my computer is more than ready for the upgrade. (gateway lx6810)
My question is, do you think that it is ok to use 7 on my primary computer as long as I keep myself backed up well and well protected?
I am not a newbie to computers, and I often beta test many different softwares. I would def submit my feedback to microsoft as well.
Thanks!
Make sure to back up a lot. Since it's semi-beta (RC) there are still -some- problems with it... So a higher chance of losing data SHOULD you become unlucky.
If you're a risk taker go for it :P
Frank
and word is you won't be able to upgrade from the RC to the retail version. you'll have to reinstall it from scratch along with all of your apps.
That's pretty much what I'd say.
Yes, RC is the final version before an OS is released. Yes, Microsoft has said they won't be making many tweaks to the OS before the RTM. Yes, it's a great OS and seems to be working very well.
But, all that said, I'd recommend you back up your files, programs, etc. and make sure that you have a copy of your old OS to roll back to in case something happens.
That being said. It think you'll be OK and you should be able to easily do a clean install of the final version once it's released around the holidays.

Just go for it. Back up everything while u are at it. What I would suggest u do is what I did dual boot. I have 7 dual boot with Vista and I just cant go back to vista. But Vista is there just in case. Play it safe. Windows 7 is awesome
Are you using it for normal, every-day use or anything beyond that?
Cheers,
Ron
