12 years to make a game...

by aMUSICsite - 5/7/09 8:19 AM

Well 3D realms (who made Duke Nukem games) have 'closed the doors'

That's right not gone bust just closed the doors. After 12 years of trying to make Duke Nukem Forever...

There has been a long held conspiracy theory that they never were making the game and just wanted to be known for having the longest game in development.

http://gamingisstupid.com/2009/05/06/the-chair-story-revival/

Charlie Wiederhold - former employee decided upon the closing of the company to re-publish his 'joke' about how the company was just conning everyone and basically just in a deal with Epic to give them some testing and give Epic a long term AAA games company on their Engine, which indeed did well after 3D Realms 'partnered' with them..

What do you think, incompetence, bad luck, took too long, or took everyone for a ride?

They did kind of back into a corner by taking so long (12 years!) to release. I doubt there was any way they could of made a game that was worth that kind of wait.

I feel like the gaming industry is no longer whole and possibly doomed.
