Howdee all.
I'm looking at getting a larger harddrive.
My system is older, and I'm not in a place now where I can afford a newer laptop.
I have however noticed the newer drives, and after reading on WDC's website, have found that some older motherboards cannot recognize hdd's larger than 137gb's.
How can I find out the largest hdd that the Mobile PentiumŪ III processor will recognize?
I'm running XP-Pro-SP2, 544mb Ram.
From memory http://www.48bitlba.com had a tool to test for 48bitlba support but 99.99999% of those machines are limited to 127GB or smaller.
And just for clarity, it's not a limitation of the Mobile PentiumŪ III processor but the BIOS.

PS. No, the company that used to alter bios's is no more so there is no longer a method to get around this.
