Most posts I see are about virus etc.,but I consider this a security issue so I'll post it here.
Many moons ago I installed a program for a friend on win95. He wanted to kid proof his computer & give limited access to other users. There was a program the name of which I don't remember BUT it might have been by microsoft. I THINK it was called Kid Desk or something. Anyway, it allowed you in admin mode to select which installed programs the selected user was allowed to run and limited access to directories in file explorer. I've seen tons of internet blocking software and such but I'd like to be able to create a user account that can only run certain programs and basically keep curious clicking fingers from trashing a system.
I've done this for adults by simply making a user account and deleting icons in the start menu. Since most weren't curious enough to experiment this worked ok but not with kids. Oh I'm using winxp (home&pro).
If you're gonna suggest linux in kiosk mode it's not an option right now.
thanks
