AVR Confusion

by kaizersosay - 4/22/09 8:09 AM

I recently bought a Harmon Kardon avr 354 and had all the trouble in the world. I had issues with the direct tv box and the PS3. It would crackle between switching from PS3 to Cable TV and also switch in the middle of a movie to just two speakers playing. One night i tried to watch a blu Ray movie and lost the sound coming from the reciever. I hadn't had this receiver one month when this happened and the unit was brand new. I have recently returned the product and I am in the market for a new AV receiver. I want to know what is the best receiver on the market for the cable box, PS3, and Wii, that doesn't have any handshake issues between the different pieces of equipment.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

budget?

I take it that your budget, based on the HK 354, is around $600. I'm pretty sure you can get an Onkyo TX-SR806 for that much if you watch the sales online. The HK's seem to have issues with HDMI sources for some reason. There should be no handshake issues with the Onkyo 806 receiver. You could also look into what Denon offers, but you will pay more for Denon products.
