Between Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and SUPERAntiSpyware, which one is the best? CNET seems to say that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is the best because in their security starter kit, they recommend downloading this one. I know Ad-Aware has a good name for spyware and someone told me SUPERAntiSpyware is a good one. Which one do you think is the best?
.. it wasn't that bad.
If you want to get rid of spyware may I suggest Windows Defender and/or COMODO Security Suite? It's free.
But out of your list I would go for MalwareBytes.
Got Spybot-SD Resident (Search and Destroy)for free. But thanks for the advise. Ad-Aware used to be free completely, no gimmicks. lol...
I un-installed Spybot SD (Search and Destroy. Because of a little more than 4.5 hours trying to use it. 3 times I tried it took 1.5 hours scanning to get almost finished and it was starting to scan my Netscape Browser and went to non responsive each time. So now I am going to try another one previously mentioned here.
I know one thing about the Ad-Aware "free" aniversary version. If I could pay for one or more subcsriptions to get that, why would I not just pay for the Aniversary version in the first place? Since one I just ran across I was REQUIRED to pay for a subscription to a game site! Talk of a bait and switch? A couple months ago I started to go for the "free" aniversary version, but since, I had forgot why I did not in the first place! One thing I DO NOT need is to sign up and get more spam in my inbox. All the list had no way to pick and choose which I want or do not want. I came here to update to the free aniversary Ad-Aware and rund across it start to download and then the page to subcribe to all that??? Nothing on the download page (that I saw) for that trial pay what ever that is. My guess is get it with tial pay to be free and spend out the nose for other sites to get it free. Yep a bait and switch!!
Malwarebytes seems the most effective.I use it together with PCTools Firewall Plus and Advanced Systems Windows Care.
The latest Avira Anti Virus comes with anti spyware.
I use the free editions of all the above.
Both superantispyware and Malwarebytes on my laptop. That both work well. You can have all three on your PC and try them out.

I recently purchased (at 1/2 price, yet), SUPERantispyware. So far, it's great. And, I get free lifetime updates.
Also, I use Firefox, which has a built-in pop-up blocker. In this forum - different post - curcat advised that Ad-Aware is, or will be, no longer supported. Something else to think about.
It's the Ad-Aware SE that is no longer supported. the newer ones are still supported.

I use Alwil's Avast Home Edition (free) and Windows Defender (free for XP and included with VISTA). Have had no problems with either and have been using both for at least 3 years (on both an XP machine and now a VISTA machine).
