I've been having a pretty minor problem that's been driving me crazy. All media I run (streaming, flash, mp3s, mpgs, et al) stutters occasionally, about every 2-3 minutes but sometimes more frequently. I took the pc to worst buy because I thought it was having hardware problems and they removed a bunch of viruses. However, they insist that I don't have any problems running video or music and that my hardware is all fine-- they even claim to have reinstalled all my drivers already. Does anyone know what's going on? I'm thinking about reinstalling windows again, but I'm hoping there's a simple fix that I haven't been able to find.
It can be many things as why you have the problem.
If it's a reasonably fast machine, it should do OK.
Use Windows player for video.... you don't say what player you use.
Sometimes, this happen when there are too many applications are running the same time. Close all of them and then play video.
If it's OK now, then above point is valid.
Are you connected to a network?
Someone else accessing your machine the same time?
As I said, there are many other reasons as well makes that happen and this forum is not a good place to reply for all possible causes.
If so, let's try a common cure. Read http://winhlp.com/node/10
the stuttering occurs no matter what i run it through-- vlc, wmp10, streaming video on google chrome/firefox/IE. It isn't limited to local content and I have no problems running games.
