Is is about the games or cost of console? I think you ultimately get what your inner circle of friends already own. I'm not a fan of the the "Wii" but I think it's popular partial on price but mostly based on what they just played at their friends house the other nice. That goes for kids but mostly adults who are really not gamers in your traditional sense. The Nintendo Wii is like a piece of gum that explodes with flavor and not even one minute later all the flavor is gone. ;-( This topic has been hammered to death like the iPhone but hell, what's one more article.
I'm into straitegy and simulation. A console serves me very poorly. I want more our of a game than just entertainment. Knowledge or trying out historical what ifs. Console games have no depth.
@Nicholas Buenk: I'd be careful, people might think your are a pompous, snobby intellect that dismisses what others perceive as fun/entertaining. In the end it's a game and that can cover a wide gambit, from "stupid fun" to something intellectually challenging. In the end it's a personal experience. Game On!

I think consoles are trashy.
But that doesn't mean I think people who like them are trashy. Different people want their intellectualism in different places.
OK... so what your saying is that consoles don't offer the same intellectualism that a PC can offer? Remember, in the end it's a "GAME", which for better or worse is suppose to be fun. Fun being VERY subjective to each user experience. In your case, the PC offers content that is intellectually stimulating that you consider fun. So how does that make the console trashy? Just because it doesn't fit into your context of "Fun". So the comment of consoles being trashy is very unintelligent statement coming from a person who is intelligent. Knowledge without wisdom is dangerous.
