Bought the new ones with Vista home premuium, dual core two, 1 gb ram. They run fine. Probably will increase ram later. Had a problem with new canon printer when installing them because the disk with printer didn't accomodate vista but it directed me to canon web site for vista software installation and the printers work fine now.
A real problem that is out there is some of the inter security software folks don't have anything for vista! It's still all for XP. They have known for awhile that this was coming and they haven't published hardly any info. Tread carefully in this area. So does that mean I have to go with One Care? I don't want to but may have to for temporary protection until the other folks get it out because i need protection NOW. So if you can, wait a while to purchase.. But Vista looks ok for us way behind the leading edge type folks. Or else go to Apple.? But there are just too many complications for us with apple for interfacing with other systems. Good Luck.

So to keep our business, they have supplied us with a free 90 day beta version of the eTrust antivirus until the tested version is released. Here is a software company that is looking out for their customers.
P.S. Anybody who is interested can download this software free from CA for the trial period.

Thinking maybe after all, don't work well together. Read on the label, of course before purchased. But really? Makes one think not, if experienced my problem. This Kaspersky at times will make it struggle even to. The support instructions of Kaspersky's website, looks like illustrations for Windows XP style program folders. Viewing the step-by-step support help. When Vista is slightly different than Windows XP. Which makes hard to find in illustrations, to get problems solved.
I hope its compatible! Wish me good luck! Don't need anymore problems, since Vista isn't totally perfected. Just filling you in. If does, you will be the first to know! For sure!! LOL!

If you have 32-bit Vista it won't recognize 64-bit Processor

A 32-bit version of Vista will still properly detect a 64-bit processor, but it will be unable to utilize the 64-bit aspect of it and unable to run any 64-bit software.

Plus I cannot afford Vista, our family is on a tight budget and I'm afraid to say, Windows XP is going to have to the job for quite a while yet, Microsoft made Vista for rich people and I'm not gonna buy Vista basic because its the cheapest, it's like Haves and Have nots with the different versions. XP will do the job because it has for the last five years and just because Micro$oft has released another version doesn't I have to go and buy it. No wonder Ballmer is complaining of a lack of Vista sales. So many cons.

After a few hours I fixed it. Besides Nero every other program installed flawlessly. So the OS runs and looks great.

Naturally it's coming with Vista Home Premium.
I'm not getting it because of Vista......more like in spite of it. My current HP PC was bought just as XP was released and rather than wait for it to die, and since we just received a small inheritance, decided now was the time for a new computer. The fact that I'm making the purchase just as Vista is released is just coincidence.
I would much prefer to just continue with XP as many of the programs I use regularly are not yet compatible with Vista. A little frustrating since they've known for some time that Vista was on the way. I currently have a 300G hd in the old computer with XP on it. Can I install this as a slave drive and use whichever system I need for a given program? Or can I install XP on the new computer without creating extra problems with Vista? I'm far from being a techno-geek, so any understandable advice would be much appreciated.

I would have hp correct this issue and insist on it.this is what I would do and explain to them you expected the system to come with xp. and tell them they should have given you a choice you have that right . also it's there falt for not clarifing this with you at time purchice good luck.
